Creative Worship Ideas

  1. Make a praise garland -- using the different names of Jesus or some drawing, expression to praise Him creatively. Hang it across the room.
  2. Take a praise journey - lift up the name of Jesus in praise+prayer on bikes, in cars, walking
  3. Create a personal or corporate sanctuary, a place to meet with God
  4. Exercise prophetic praise -- draw outlines of your hand and ask God for a word to share for that
  5. Make praise chains or papers - writing words of praise to one another
  6. Construct an area with praise stations -- Examples:
    • Light a candle to proclaim God's truth in the darkness of an unsaved loved one
    • Express your worship to God through a painting or drawing
    • Offer incense with a list of thanksgiving to God
    • Write a brief testimony of thanks and put it on the altar
    • Sit, lay or kneel before the Lord in silence
    • Pray for several minutes in tongues as you focus on God
    • Write a psalm for today, being honest in your feelings and turning your heart to God
  7. Build an altar or memorials as your offering of worship, creating a spiritual landmark, stone of remembrance, or memorial stone.
  8. Bring an offering or gift to the Lord today. Ask Him what you should give and how.
  9. Bless someone as an act of worship to God. God will show you who and how.
  10. Celebrate the Lord with a "Praise party"; invite your friends to praise the Lord creatively with you.
  11. Spend time at a "wailing wall" and offer to God your disappointments, longings and dreams
  12. Listen to a worship song + write down what it makes you feel or what God says to you.
  13. Write a declaration of your intention and commitment to worship God.
  14. Use different body positions to express your worship to God: kneeling, lifting hands, waving hands, laying prostrate, dancing, clapping, etc.
  15. What's the most important instrument of worship? Our hearts! Tell each other what is in your heart for God.
  16. Make a labyrinth to describe your spiritual journey
  17. Make an acronym for the name of Jesus -- e.g. J-Just, E-Emmanuel, S-Savior, etc. Then ask God what your name is an acronym for.
  18. Remember God's deeds and give him praise - use magazine clippings with different headlines - areas like finances, healing, direction, etc. Torah - Remembrance leads us to worship
  19. Express your worship/praise without words
  20. Do a spiritual housecleaning - prayerfully walk through your house/room and ask the Holy Spirit to identify anything that is not pleasing to the LORD. Then consecrate that place (can use oil or wine) to the LORD, asking Him to fill it with His presence.
  21. Make a growing list of the names of Jesus to keep in your Bible -- e.g. Saviour, Shepherd, Healer, Deliverer, El Shaddai, etc.
  22. Make a growing list of God's character qualities to keep in your Bible -- e.g. faithful, creative, just, righteous, holy, wise, etc.
  23. Worship Gallery - each person expresses their worship to God in a way that is not familiar. An artist sings, a singer paints, etc.
  24. Use children's songs and old hymns to praise the Lord. Use songs that you wouldn't typically use or even enjoy to praise Him in song.
  25. Take a walk in nature and collect a few things that speak to you of God's nature.

This is part of a growing list I'm compiling, so please feel free to add your own experiences and ideas so we can learn from each other! Belinda van de Loo, YWAM Heidebeek, Holland worship@ywam.nl
