The lecture phase is the in-class portion of a YWAM school. Each week students are taught in a classroom setting about specific topics within their school. YWAM has a wide range of schools and each school's lecture phase will be directed at achieving that school's outcome.

In a Discipleship Training School (DTS) the lecture phase is 3 months long and is followed by an outreach where students apply what they've learned. The DTS program typically is 5-6 months.

Examples of lecture phase topics in a DTS are: Missions, Father heart of God, Relationships, Bible Study, Holy Spirit, Hearing God's voice, Clear conscience Christianity, Nature and Character of God, and Fear of the Lord.
