London Olympics 2012

The whole world will be coming and gathering in one place.

Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and the local churches are planning outreaches:

  • Come with your language and culture to reach those from your nation in London.
  • Make a lasting change.
  • Build faith to reach people back home.

During the next three years we want to see Christians in this city:

  • Reaching out to those in need.
  • Building friendships.
  • Getting involved in the regeneration of communities at a grassroots level.

Our Aims:

  1. To share the gospel to all the language groups represented in the city (there are over 300 currently spoken in London).
  2. To produce a long-term YWAM presence in East London and the Thames Gateway area.
  3. To help mobilize and unite London churches to reach their city.
  4. To learn how to connect with people of other faiths or of no faith.
  5. To provide a short term outreach alongside the Olympics.

Starting Point:

  • Create opportunities for teams to visit.
  • Research about and pray for the capital so that we can better understand the various areas of the city.

We Would Love to:

  • Serve the local churches in Stratford, Newham and Tower Hamlets areas; and help to implement their visions and ideas.
  • Look at setting up community centres.
  • Start sports ministries
  • Establish a Christian Heritage Tour of London.
  • Get involved with social action projects in conjunction with the Police and local councils.
